Singapore's public housing built in the last ~15 years also follows a "micro district" model with about 10-20 apartment buildings sharing a small stand-alone short-rise commercial building (with eateries & other shops), whereas older public housing estates built in the 1990s tend to have a greater number of buildings sharing a small (& often open-air) shopping centre. Even older estates have "neighbourhood centres" instead of such shopping centres - an area of low-rise (usually 4 storey) apartment buildings with shops occupying the ground floor. A town typically has a handful of neighbourhood centres in the geographically peripheral areas in addition to a main town centre (with a bus interchange & bigger shopping centres) in the town's geographical core
