Nazi Germany wiped the floor of Europe because most of Europe was recovering from the great depression and military was their last thought, meanwhile Germany had been advancing their military equ and trainind in the Spanish Civil War, Europe believed in "Peace for our Time" so when Germany attacked - they were up against WW1 biplanes, horse cavalry in their modern tanks & metail planes.
