We aren't expecting them to pay?
5
@tomjones7184 It not a debate, we are giving them kit.
5
@SplurbBat He gassed his own people and invaded his neighbours, he was beyond the even a normal dictator. The validity of the invasion is a different question to being innocent.
5
Double simply isn't going to happen. You may as well say a Death Star is a minimum.
5
NATO has fought very few wars, but which has it lost?
5
Over half the build and final assembly will be in the UK.
5
You're always going to train, from a European perspective Russia is the only possible threat to NATO, so of course they'll train with Russia in mind.
5
We helped create them, they are designed to be what we wanted, of course we're buying them.
5
It's to not give legitimacy to terrorists. Find something real to complain about it.
5
@theylied1776 As you own post says Britain was still attacking Germany not just tasked with defending. But more importantly air superiority wasn't achieve through physical presence, it was achieved through depleting the enemy air force. This was done as much by defence efforts like the Battle of Britain or Malta as bombing raids. And those earlier fights were done against veteran pilots not new recruits.
5
Maybe refresh your own knowledge. Tempest, Typhoons replacement is aiming for 2035. The most recent Typhoons are only a couple of years old.
5
Perplexing Enigma wow that's a lot of text. Why are you wittering on about the US on a British video where I asked about the RAF?
5
Learn what the word literally means, the only thing is half of is the UKs carriers.
5
Arming is indirect.
5
How do you figure? The threat of invasion ended with the Battle of Britain, fought before the US entered the war.
5
We are part of Europe?
5
@John Doe the F35B isn't.
5
The Skill is increasingly in the battlespace awareness than actually flying the plane. Certainly pilots say it's an order of magnitude easier to take off and land than a Harrier.
5
Competition doesn't mean conflict, it's useful for the pursuit of excellence.
5
@johnallen7807 % of GDP is irrelevant when looking at total capability, and even without the US, NATO dwarves Russia. And theres no longer even the claim of Russian exceptionalism as there failures in Ukraine show. The risk to NATO is political division not lack of money. As I said we work from European bases all the time, the infrastructure is there.
5
Since when? Based on what?
5
@jonalkr1236 yes. I read your post, it wouldn't solve anything. The whole point if this thread isn't that elite units within the USMC aren't as good but that overall they aren't as good.
5
They aren't getting rid of MBTs.
5
@datonaone I think we do, not necessarily today but 10-20 years time. Air defences are getting a lot better, both the ability of high end systems and the spread of cheap capable ones. This is what the F35 is designed for, breaking air defence networks.
5
Fully fifth gen and not all US carrier group are the big armadas it's not a ridiculous statement.
5
You might want to refine your country knowledge.
5
@submarineradioman5535 ha, it's secretly camouflaged as two ships.
5
US carriers haven't had an active deployment with F35C yet, those F35B are a big plus.
5
It doesn't. The advanced nature of QE is best demonstrated by the fact it needs half the crew for a larger vessel. It can also take more jets and those jets are more advanced.
5
We want to export our military hardware, it's not genrally wanted.
5
If the worry is Russia, sending weapons to fight Russia is ensuring our defence.
5
An English electric, yep.
5
@magecraft2 though it might not be relevant, stealth is often about targeting rather than spotting. A burst of data will tell people your there but not allow them to shoot a missile at you.
5
@itzmatty1906 scope out an area before your commandos go in, you can't see how that's useful?
5
@itzmatty1906 you can't stick a Reaper on a frigate or in Viking. And you don't waste resources on a job that can be done for a fraction of the cost.
5
The money comes from the crown estate not the tax payer.
5
Because it isn't more effective to do the same thing. Actually look what current drones do, they work in very uncontested environments.
5
Why everyone, there's Russia invading or nothing happening, that's just Russia needing to simmer down.
5
The archer purchase is short term cover, so it's likely it was what's available.
5
You haven't looked at history then, France spent most of it fighting anyone and everyone they could. WW2 isn't all of history.
5
The only division is NATO not being hive mind. NATO countries are supporting Ukraine.
5
2 squadrons will be a quiet normal deployment, though closer to 24. The UK is still working up it's pilots which is easier from land, as this is diplomatic rather than war there is no need to push it.
5
@johnallen7807 The troops in Estonia just represent that he would be fighting NATO. Putin would never knowingly start a war with NATO, the only risk is if he feels he can present us with a Fait Accompli.
5
Afganistan started with an invasion and toppling of a regime, how's that similar to a small deployment in a UN mission?
5
@Mohawk2185-o3q your trying to do it with Tejas. And even then your using an American engine. I'm not a trying to put you down but aerospace industries are hard to build up and your still at the stage where outside expertise is very helpful.
5
@WhateverMan35 enjoy your bull
5
Sure it can.
4
@Hobosurvival you really can't fix stupid, you've managed to look at Ukraine, where artillery is possibly to most dominant feature and concluded it has no future. One of the successes of drones is even that they can spot for artillery.
4
It's good you feel so passionate about something that doesn't have fixed definition.
4
@aflyingcowboy31 the UK, Japan and Italy clearly care, and given theres no current suggestion NGAD will be exported much of the world probably cares more about Tempest.
