Which is it, Afghan or Syria, they are very different in terms of UK involvement?

For that to be effective you need mass genocide, including innocent people that are hard to distinguish, which I really hope your not advocating. Otherwise you have to combat the ideas as well as fighting militarily.

@stretfordender11 we didn't have to invade in 2003, we chose to but also both Sadam and the Iranian revolution stem back to western interference, just older interference. We have troops in the Ukraine like we do in Mali, operation orbital.

@stretfordender11 quite a few, but we were talking about Mali, not British citizens. Anyway my original point was simply it's not always Islam. Which I'm happy you agree with.

It's kind of happening. Overt empires are a thing of the past but China is looking to gain influence and economic control. The US has bases all over the place and others have some stake.

@stretfordender11 It isn't always. It is sometimes. Issues in Ukriane for example has nothing to do with Islam. Even Iraq, the root cause is much more Western interference, Islam is simply fighting back.

@stretfordender11 Urkaine isn't the threat, it's Russia. Who've actually killed someone in the UK, in Salisbury.

Connor Cook Not really. Syria sprang from Iraq. Iraq and Afganistan were for very different reasons.

@nosamsemaj9150 France hasn't pulled out. And we have very little involvement at the moment, less than Syria, no where near Afganistan.

@nosamsemaj9150 250 troops under the UN, it's a long way off Afganistan yet.
