  4. The USSR has a similar population to the US, so the US being richer allowed it to spend more. China has around 4x the population even poorer it can compete and it's catching up.

  14. No one is claiming the Chinese navy is stronger because it has more ships but it is another milestone showing it's progress. It's building at a rate of knots and the size quality is getting better. Shandong is commissioned and a third carrier on the way for example.

  15. The reality is more subtle. Not made in China but partially made by allies and partially the UK. So the question is how much needs to be the UK.
