jagara1 huh, how does that make sense?

Sugarnips IV Early in development. But it designed to avoid dogfight and hit from range.
9
Hardrive33 it lacks a bit to the A though not the key stealth and sensors part. But A's can't fly from ships.
6
Not a lot at the moment but the good thing is they can works as eyes directing Typhoons missiles.
4
Jim Ramsey Its the step between ordered and haven't got a clue how many. Would be changeable in the future but probably only from a SDSR.
4
PDZ1122 so cover a country with goat herders and missiles, you'll only need hundreds of thousands of them...
3
Robin Seward Those numbers are wrong (or at least not comparable). Typhoon would need strengthening for catapults which would be extra cost too.
3
Boar Vessel, 600-500 B.C. , Etruscan Ceramic probably not but it's wasted money. I presume/hope plans exist for worst case scenarios.
3
karl Mallyon 15 so far.
2
Both? They'll be jointly operated. These first ones are part of the Dambusters (RAF) but will almost certainly fly from HMS QE.
2
Warsame Adam it gives the refueling tankers a bit of practice. Seems like it's the standard method. We did some training in Japan and the Typhoons flew there.
2
Brody Wilson We paid a lot for the development.
2
palmermsw longer than the harrier.
2
gordyboy01 A lot of focus was also given to sensors and networking. They are missile platforms and nodes in a network. The F35 is much more of a partnership than your post suggests, we haven't just bought the aircraft we've been part of its construction from the start.
2
gordyboy01 The bigger airforces (US, UK, Italy etc.) are all running it along side an air superiority fighter. I don't see a catastrophic issue being possible. I do see tactics being key, particular choosing not to engage. As an essentially offensive weapon this should be possible. But yes we have to wait and see. It'll be nice to get RAF reports vs the Typhoon. The Yanks aren't Russians but they're still prone to a bit of exaggeration.
2
Fek The First I agree but when you get to that few it stops being worth it. Plus late in life we might want to cannablise a few to keep the rest running.
1
Fek The First As long as we get 90 B's I'm happy.
1
batman they don't have the manfacturing processes written in the side of the plane. Also why would you want that?
1
Calum Spencer with hindsight the US is still struggling with EMALs and we were never going steam. The F35C is also behind the other two.
1
Bonface Murithi we continue you to develop it but it's not stealth and can't fly from carriers so was never an option for this role.
1
Roger Rabbit Britain is the saviour of the US. A Europe united under Soviet or Nazis control would have won the cold war.
1
Paul Martin carriers?
1
DAG058 by cost we will make more than 3x the amount of F35 we will buy.
1
Jack Stephens it's stopped production and wasn't available for export when it was still being made.
1
Gary Mcatear long before your time. We'll end up with a couple of hundred between Typhoons and Lightning IIs.
1
interceptor1986 at worse differently capable. Do you think the Typhoon has anywhere near the ground attack sensors or the obvious can it fly from a carrier?
1
Chung Kai Man there aren't any tanks developed yet.
1
DAVE A Its a fine aircraft but we want to be able to project power, the stealth is key to beat improving SAMs.
1
Boar Vessel, 600-500 B.C. , Etruscan Ceramic I like your name but we aren't being attacked any time soon and the downward thrust from STOVL will ruin a normal surface over time so it makes perfect sense to base them at one spot.
1
Gregg Sonic the companies are not actually worth that much, if they were a profitable as you says actually big companies like BP or Apple would pick them up.
1
Brian Cullen if there is a war in the south east of Europe what we need is a carrier. Oh look that's what we're getting.
