@glastonbury4304 yeah, he's a little too French at the moment.

@rowanmaguire7890 you missed the point of you think T32s having steel hulls is an issue. T32s will sometimes transport the minesweepers, they aren't the mine sweepers.

A couple of years for the first delivery and then a couple of years to be operational. The first 3 are about one every two years so around 2040 for the lot. That said the type 83 is planned for the mid 2030s so it might be a bit earlier. Honest answer is it will depend on future governments.
2
@royalnavyrulebritannia5717 you could say that but by that time other ships will feel old. If done properly it should just be a continuous roll of new ships.
2
@glastonbury4304 no, we still have them. Still possible we will sell them but France won the contract we were looking for so they won't be free. Last I heard though they were going for some old Dutch ones.
2
@glastonbury4304 the subs contract is worth 20x as much as was an underway contract not a competition like the frigates.

@royalnavyrulebritannia5717 The US has 10x the population and GDP of Canada. Those are factors that are important and the ones I mentioned. When I said size at the end I was referring to navy size, going forward China's navy will be many times ours.

@VanderlyndenJengold E3s aren't a big issue compared with some gaps, NATO has it's own as well as individual allies. From what I've heard the gap will see the crews training on Wedgetails so they will up to speed as soon as received.
2
@rowanmaguire7890 No you don't understand. You are living with yesterday's tech.
2
@rowanmaguire7890 yep, an autonomous fibreglass ship.
2
@rowanmaguire7890 they aren't traveling around the world. They are travelling dozens of miles from there mothership or land base.
2
@SaxonSuccess No, most things are member state owned. AWACs is an exception. NATO itself runs a fleet of 14 E-3s, it's on there website if you want to have a look.
2
There about 20 years old. Still have more legs but not new.
1
When kits retired it sold, pretty standard.
1
They pull from the same pot, keeping more old means building less new.
1
@thomasgriffiths3001 I not sure if you do understand given you've just added another area of spending in troops.
1
That was only if we won the new build part too, we didn't.
1
@royalnavyrulebritannia5717 China is a country that has 20x our population and already 5x our GDP. It is simply not a country we will be close to in size.
1
@henryvagincourt4502 Monmouth has gone but Montrose is still hard at work in the Middle East.

@rowanmaguire7890 No the fibreglass ships will be replaced by autonomous vessels. We already have steel ships like bays running mothership and frigates in the area for our current vessels. Where the current sweepers go it won't be T32s, it will unmanned vessels. It not the US in the past it's the UK and France now.
