It was Protectorate, that isn't wrong?

It has a purpose, train the ANA so they can look after themselves. It may be futile but it is a purpose.

None, if you want to be cynical this is the good one to distract from the bad ones.

We don't just have one Jungle trianig centre, we have two. Few developed nations can compete with us.
2
I do love that Gibraltan oil and gas? We there because the people there want to stay British.
2
@_._._._._._._._._._._._._.____ this seems like it strengthen the regime and is helping stabilise the nearby area? The idea that everything must have an underlying motive suggests you see the world in some kind of comic book black and white. Britain does self interested things but it also does humanitarian things.
2
This isn't factions, its government troops. Its also not at all unusual.

Learn what civil war means. Our is still the war that killed the largest percentage of our population, same with the US. Your talking about a little squabble by comparison.
1
@zinjanthropus322 the UN is too ineffectual to take such actions. If you have a complaint at the UN is should be that it pretents there's an international justice, rather just countries power politics.
1
@dingdong475 the officer skew towards posh people starts at the application level. A much higher percentage of public school students apply. I'd put this down to if you don't have to worry about financial security you can care about other things.

The problem is very real. Engaging with local female populations. Whether job is useful is another question.

It is an argument that I have thought about quite a few times. I would instinctively say I would always value a human life over an animal. But from that animals would never get any help as you could always help humans instead. But then you would have much fewer species which I'm also not comfortable with. I think it probably comes down to a small benefit to many people can out way a large benefit to a few. As an extinction deprives all future generations of the enrichment it brings that "many people" is vast.
1
@nickluther263 The earth hasn't deemed the Rhino, for example, unnecessary? And the impact of species preservation is inconsequential to global warming.
1
@nickluther263 The reason that natural selection has the "natural" is to distiguise it from human. But if you want to include humans then conservation is part of natural selection too.
1
@cannedgoose3259 When we are in the EU, trade deals are negotiated EU wide.
1
Why ask someone for help based on what they know when you can do it based on the colour of there skin?
1
Then your pretty naive. Africans are the same as anyone else. And everyone fights wars.
1
Constantine, at what? I very much doubt it's better at jungle warfare, which they were teaching.
1
@ConstantineJoseph Urm... is your argument 50 years ago the Isrealis trained with a city state that (given it only became independent in '63) was British trained so they'll be better than the British now?
1
@ConstantineJoseph that's some nice information about modern Singapore. But how does that impact on modern Israel when the interaction was 50 years ago? How's Israel maintaining and updating it's Jungle skills nowadays? Britain has training bases in Brunei and Belize specially for Jungle warfare.
1
@ConstantineJoseph well that was a long post but one sentence was relevant. Israel doesn't do Jungle training. The reason posted in the first place was that the UK would be better at this Malawi mission than Israel as it does Jungle training.
1
@ConstantineJoseph it is pointless, your trying to arguing a jungle training is better done by a country that doesn't do Jungle training. And your seemingly talking about equipment for a destitute country.
1
This isn't us acting, this is us teaching. It may not make a big difference, but the soldier we teach and the people they help will be a little bit different.
1
Republic is mostly not a kingdom. It should mean an elected head of state but it's obviously used by dictators too. Ironically Democratic in a countries generally means it ISN'T democratic. I guess because dictators try to compensate.
1
It answers the question at 0:49.

What about this video came across as causing trouble?
1
@_._._._._._._._._._._._._.____ they aren't this mission. They were very clearly different types missions, with the obvious fact they weren't working with the government's.
1
@_._._._._._._._._._._._._.____ The UN don't do training?
1
It's Royal Anglian. Took me a while to figure it out though.
