  11.  @markrl75  it's not creative accounting, it's the NATO agreed parameters. '81 is the height of the cold war, not something to compare to.

  12.  @markrl75  including pensions was at was agreed by NATO in a conversation that included the US. It makes sense to me, pensions are just part of the benefits like pay. We also meet the 20% spend on kit agreed by NATO. Why bring up a European defence union, we are in NATO where multinational fleets are common place.

  13.  @markrl75  France is one of our closest allies, of course we have bilateral agreements with them. That's the opposite of a European Defence union, it's about being decisive as a pair. We have whole variety of agreements but I haven't heard of anything specifc with Germany recently, in fact we've just pulled troops out. We're you referring to something specifc? We aren't cheating, we're using the agreed rules.

  20.  @streaky81  Maybe if the economy tanks. But with it being in there manifesto and the law putting it in place was agreed cross party I can't see where the pressure comes from. Indian aid is already being phased out. What I can see is the Foreign Office getting a much better hold on the budget so it being used more as a diplomatic tool.

  25. Prince of Wales is just a honorific and doesn't mean your the head of that country. It's not aways awarded, the Queen was never the Princess of Wales for example.
