Even those against the EU were generally for NATO. Happy to fight together, just may be not administer together.

The EFP's were original just trip wires, not expected to hold but to ensure NATO was at war. But given Russia's efforts in Ukraine frankly any invading force would get shredded by NATO airpower.

I think we'd actually be more capable of an op like the Falklands as it didn't involve large numbers and out tech is much advanced.

Presumably for the defensive implications

We are helping Ukraine.

How do you not know where Estonia is yet think you know about geopolitics?
3
@bigcoolviking Just blithely continuing with your ignorance? You know the USSR did previously annex Estonia?

MAD has never gone away.

I think 148 will come from the reality that the tanks are long out of production and aging so some will need to be cannibalised to keep the rest going. Ultimately Challenger 3 is a stop gap upgrade. That said we're seeing in Ukraine it's longer range systems that are more needed.

Not at all. The last time Labour was in power it was a Scottish PM. There are Scottish and Welsh tory MPs and the DUP backed up May. Scotland got an independence referendum and chose to stay. On defence the personnel is drawn from across the union and kit it build across the union, like the carriers in Scotland, Ajax in Wales and NLAW in Northern Ireland. How's that just England?

@mysurlytrucker7510 You appear to have failed to distinguish to difference between Scotland and the SNP.
1
@mysurlytrucker7510 That still wouldn't mean the SNP was Scotland. But the last general election it was only 45% SNP, that ain't most.

Protect in what way? They aren't going to shoot them.

Our allies feel threatened, and it's very clear why given there size and Russia's willingness to invade neighbours. Why Russia with it's massive nuclear stockpile and army feel threaten by a few thousand troops is much less understandable?
1
@tonywilson9950 I presume your pushing an agenda. Your next to a massive military power with a history of occupying your country and a present of intervening in it neighbours and you think it needs NATO escalation for you to feel threatened?
1
This kind of comment was stupid before Ukraine, now it's ridiculous.

Artillery and airpower killed tanks in WW2.

Either Russia is strong and 15000 troops is not in the least bit threatening or Russia is weak. You can't have it both ways.
