  2. The the extent that it can do that, it wouldn't make a difference. The US doesn't protect ships individual, it backs a system where ships move freely. It can't turn it off just for the EU. And even then, European navies aren't that incapable, and even a country like China that isn't well aligned still has a massive mutual interest in trade.

  5.  @Roobum12  It works alright for home defence, we look to deploy 1000 miles away or more. We also heavily a naval force which it is bad for. Increasing pay and conditions is a better way to improve recruitment and more importantly retention.

  6. @Roobum12  It doesn't within the context of NATO, where we have the numbers as well staying all professional It still shouldn't with a similar organisation without the US, but requires commitment from its biggest members.

  8. @sophierobertson7938  what trumps been saying is heading that way, he wants to stop arming Ukraine, he's ruling out deploying US troops, he's repeating Russian soundbites. I haven't seen any sign of what he's trying to get other than to give up?

  9. Europe isn't the answer when Europe isn't doing the job now. We haven't had the political will to truly scale up production to supply Ukraine never mind to rearm ourselves for more turbulent times. Trying to bring down the US for a president that only has 4 years is an overreaction especially when it would require changes far greater than the ones we aren't doing now.
