There is an issue with Russian KIA figures because they depend on the death being officially acknowledged in some way. Since the beginning of the war Russia has been accused of not acknowledging combat deaths, not even listing soldiers as missing. Relatives and familiies have complained that they have had no contact from the soldiers but they are not listed as missing, and the Russian Military has refused to give them any information. In one interview with a POW who was calling his wife in Russia through the Red Cross, his wife said that she had found him listed on several different Ukraine websites but the Russian Military would not even admit that he was missing. For instance what happened to the crew of the Moskva ? Officially 150 soldiers were missing, but the families of the rest of the crew could not contact them, and the Russian govt would not give them information. Has the rest of the crew been verified as still alive or is their status just unkown still ?

@justkornel4640 but isn't that because the RuMil had such heavy losses ? Because before the Ukraine troops attrited the RuMil forces down they did have enough troops to fill the front.

@freespeech515 No, they had max 215000, the rest were reservists who were in the army at some time but that could have been 8 years ago.

@Manorainjan We can just ignore that then, unless he was referring to vodka related injuries

@Michael_Veritas Win the battle lose the war. They have been attacking Bakhmut constantly since last summer and they have still not succeeded, so how is that winning ? They have advanced around 1km over a month and then in a few days Ukr counter-attacks and drives them back 1km. Wagner is now making progress but we will see what happens.

@Michael_Veritas 1 month later and they are still talking about 'Russian Progress' in Bakhmut. Looks like Ukraine got some more air defences.
