@Giovanni_B9 I wish I could listen to the multitracks then, you hear stuff you've never heard before, it's magical.

Rock bands that could still do a half time show: Foo Fighters, Chilli Peppers, Pearl Jam?

Love this one Rick, enthusiasm and recording techniques, who needs more...

I have played the bass since the early eighties and I have always preferred to stand with the drums on my left, possibly something to do with keeping my eye on the drummer's foot on the kick drum? I now get quite severe tinnitus, mostly in my left ear. I blame it on the cymbals I have endured over the years. Its especially annoying that the particular drummers I have worked with started wearing ear plugs years ago and I passed them up, thinking that they were for 'light weights' and 'softies'! I just didn't see the point. Now they all retain great hearing and I can still hear their fucking cymbals ringing weeks after a rehearsal or gig! I notice it particularly in the mornings. Like most things that develop with age, you have to just put up with it, although I must admit that its nice to be reminded that I'm not the only old git who suffers with it! Old rockers don't die they just go mad with the constant ringing in their ears!

If you hadn't had Kashmir in DADGAD as no1 I would've unsubscribed!

How come there is a vocal harmony on "Quietly turning the backdoor key, stepping outside she is free." 5.20 that isn't in the original mix? It is wonderful. Come to that, so are the low cello parts. How come they are so much more distinct in this video Rick?

Rick doing a Peter Zeihan! Cool.

Thankyou Rick. Inspiring.

Has to be a new series Rick? But don't do Nickelback or Creed that would be too obvious? Has to better than crap songs by bands you like, surely?

You never mentioned Radiohead. Not very bluesy, post '96 but still brilliant. Do the Foo fighters get a mention, the killers, Steroephonics, Stone Temple Pilots, KOL, I'm sure they deserve their place in rock history. What's wrong with Puddle of Mud? By the way you jump over how important funk has been to keeping rock interesting, maybe its the current rap/hip hop back beats influences you don't like?

I thought punk rock happened in the late seventies...imagine my surprise!

That was delightful!

Imagine Dragons, 'Enemy'?

Johnny Rotten (a massive Kate Bush fan) once said that his Mum had described Kate's voice as being like 'a bag of cats'! A lot of people thought that when she first emerged on the pop scene. But the way she used her voice as an instrument was breath-taking. Particularly on 'The Dreaming' and most successfully on the 'Hounds of Love' LP. I continue to he awed by her youthful brilliance. Her later career was less innovative, but still a refreshing alternative to the pop music of the day...and today in fact!

Thanks for doing Indie Rick, but you really should have mentioned The Beths.

Rick, could you say that George Martin created a bed for the Beatles, especially with his orchestral arrangements? 'Eleanor Rigby' for example would sound very different without the strings, or 'She's Leaving Home' or even 'Penny Lane'?.

If, to distribute your recorded music, you have to give it away for free and a living wage mostly comes from live performance, what hope is there during lockdown? Give us some solutions Rick!

I'm with you Rick, beautiful song well worthy of analysis, surely for education and information we can deconstruct the music and appreciate the technical side of the arrangement and production values. It makes no sense, your video was the best kind of tribute and it is entirely idiotic to dissuade listeners who wouldn't otherwise hear it from further accessing the song and the artist themselves.

Didn't realise Pat was such a nice guy! Brilliant content Rick.

Genesis, Supper's Ready, Apocalyse in 9/8.

I would prefer it if they do the gigs without Bonio...and the Edge....and Adam Clayton too...then Pearl Jam could do the shows.
