  2. Well said. I've had exactly the same argument with people from both sides of the political divide. Conservatives blame 'open borders' Blair, Left wingers blame post austerity Tory governments. In actual fact all British governments have been failing to fulfill their election manifesto promises, as regards reducing or limiting immigration, since Labour in the early sixties. Of course this has been most blatantly obvious since Boris Johnson, but the fact remains that both main political parties have always promises to either reduce or at least control immigration and neither have ever delivered or even come close. The British public, on the other hand, has never knowingly voted for more immigration or weaker controls over our borders and yet that is exactly what we have continued to receive from successive governments of both sides.
