I'm starting to wonder if a national enquiry is what we actually need. Would it lead to arrests? Would it lead to prosecutions and would they in turn lead to substantial sentences? Would those guilty of corruption in the councils, the police and the Labour Party actually be properly exposed and punished? Would it be prompt? Would it be carried out without fear or favour? In light of the Hillsborough enquiry, the Chillcott enquiry, the COVID enquiry, the Post Office scandal, the contaminated blood scandal, the Jay enquiries, somehow I doubt it....

@markb1487 That's kind of what I was thinking. The establishment tend to protect each other, especially when they're all in the same political party. They also protect the system by taking years before any legal action is taken, usually when the guilty have retired or moved on. Look at the Post Office scandal: everyone knows what went wrong, who was a victim and who was to blame and yet still, over twenty years later, it has not been resolved.

By the time we get to next General Election they will have established their own party to represent their own concerns. It may be in disguise; like the Green Party or The Workers' Party or it may be confident enough to reveal what it really is. Either way there is no chance of people like Jess Phillips winning their seats again.
