  1.  @geoffpriestley7001  If you live in England, Wales or Scotland you do not need to bring any identification to vote. You will need to show photo ID to vote in Northern Ireland (your passport, driving licence, Electoral Identity Card or certain kinds of Translink Smartpass). You do not have to take your poll card with you.

  2. I really don't get it... in other countries you need your ID/passport to make a vote, this has been going on for decades now. Why is it so much of a problem in the US?

  11. Why? In other developed countries, including my country the Netherlands, you need to have an ID by law when you turn 14 years old. You need to buy them but the costs are low.

  26.  @SixxThirtyFive  Also when we turn 14 years old, by law, we need to have a identification. Our parents apply for this ID, after that you only need to have your old ID to get a new one.

The identification obligation means that everyone from the age of 14 must be able to show a valid proof of identity if the police asks for it. Other law enforcement officials may also ask you for a valid ID. For example, forest rangers, tax inspectors and environmental inspectors. The identification requirement does not give the police or supervisors the power to check your identity without reason.
