@mizzo8341 yes, the pledge of allegiance is performative for most. And especially at a developmental age. Rituals/Traditions IMO are just a rut in the rode of progress if not understood. I understand many rituals provide a sense of comfort and belonging to us social beings. And like stretching our muscles before physical activities or playing a musical instrument before studying mathematics is a good exercise becuse it requires the use of both the right side and left side of ones brain IMO when Dwight D. Eisenhower died, long ago, the GOP went with him. Perhaps He with tact just like James Madison used the notion of God? They both needed political gain; and understood that the church is a political machine. And new that the church was invented for that. I need to study more on the "godless communities of Russia" at that time. The so-called "Christian Nations", Russia and USA, are the most enlightened and progressive...but in spite of their religion NOT because of it. The church has opposed every innovation and discovery from the day of Galileo down to our time; when the use of anesthetic in childbirth was regarded as sin because it avoided the biblical curse pronounced against Eve, like vaccines huh. And every step in astronomy and geology, like the southern border, has been opposed by bigotry and superstition. The Greeks surpassed us in artistic culture and architecture five hounded years before the Christian religion was born. So here We go.
