It is full of interest. it has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some blood-drenched history; and some good morels; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a thousand lies. The two Testaments are interesting, each in it's own way, The old one gives us a picture of these people's Deity as he was before he got religion, the other gives us a picture of him as he appeared afterward right? The Christian's bible is a drug store. It's contents remain the same; but the medical practice changes....the world has corrected the Bible, but the church has not. When one reads the Bibles, one is less surprised at what the Deity knows than what he doesn't know. Man is the only animal that inflicks pain for pleasure. He is the only animal that has True Religion - - several of them. He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat if his theology isn't straight. right? Ours is a terrible religion. The fleets of the world could swim I spacious comfort in the innocent blood it has spilled.
