The church has opposed every inovation and discovery since the time of Galileo down to our times, when the use of anesthetic in childbirth was regarded as SIN because it avoided the biblical curse against Eve. Just like vaccination. And every step in astronomy and geology (aka the southern border) ever taken has been opposed by bigotry and superstition. The greeks surpassed us in artistic culture and architecture 500 years before the Christian religion was born.
