I'm assuming pretty much every nation your country hasn't tried to invade yet that's of comparable technological advancement. Hard to say when all you ever fight are nations economically dependent on you to even have a military and civilians you drone-strike for no reason. "You've seen how Russia is doing in Ukraine...these guys could offer us a challenge?" Probably, they're about as currently accustomed to fighting a real war as you are. About as many legitimate threats since the Cold War as the USA. "The Russians are floundering against half-trained Ukrainian civilians who are wielding SOME of the equipment that's in the American arsenal." And here's the USA terrified of a bunch of ill-equipped Mid-Eastern terrorists, most of which are civilians. Glass houses, at least Ukraine's an actual military. "I'm sorry: Russia has beautiful women...better than ours...but its army fucking sucks. We'd beat the brakes off of them in a conventional war." You sure seem awfully confident when most of your attacks on terrorists don't even hit the right people. Russian Civilians have more to fear from America than its military by my count.

Why shouldn't they feel confident? They watched the USA losing to barely-equipped poorly-trained insurgent groups for how many decades now? When was the last generation the US ever "won" anything militarily?

I'd say look at Russia and remember this: They're about as trained for combat against a Real opponent as the USA is by this point.
