  1. A short "sea" story: Back during the 00's, I was on TDY and got into a bar side conversation with the CO and SWO of the USS The Sullivans (DDG 51 Class). The CO, expressed his strong opinion on the USN (recent at the time) naming a DDG after Halsey. To him, this was inappropriate due to the decisions Halsey made that resulted in the loss of DDs and crews to Typhoon Cobra. He believed that Halsey made some bad calls and unnecessarily put the fleet and insensitively put the DDs and crews at risk. His opinion was that Halsey treated the DDs and men as disposable and that that was inexcusable. That was one opinion and your mileage may be different.
