  1. A ret USN officer once told a sea story that he was greeted aboard a CCCP Battlecruser (Kiev???) for one of those goodwill visits. He noticed that everything had a fresh coat of paint on top of many layers of paint, including the training gears and grease fittings on the torpedo tubes.
