  1. Sad part is that modern warships are still repeating similar lessons and fails. - Now with sensors and emitters interfering and masking. And there is weapons plumes, FOD, exhaust from garbage incinerators.... not to mention superstructure air turbulence to aircraft, good times.

  3. The diagram at 1:50 is a simple cartoon. A more accurate plan view showing the amount of clearance between the gun barrels and the main deck structure can be found here: https://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/ships/ships-uk/49161/view/hms_colossus_%28battleship%29_%281911%29/ Although masked by the flying structure, you can imagine that the deck structure chamfer can be repeated on both the port and starboard sides.   11.  @atomicsquirrel6457  yes, even total they are antique pieces. Not useful as a weapon (in USN 40mm ish, 3 foot barrel, sliding breech, anti boat stuff from the beginning of the last century, end of previous century) . An old gun that can still make a loud BOOM.

  12. Cool, it's also a ship of interest to me which started when I found the "Profile series" booklet on her while in high school (still have it). It's a nice short reference and comes up on Ebay every so often.
