  1. Good point! Would it make sense to shut the beech on an empty case or a special case made to form a water right seal? Separately, I do know that some guns (USN 5/25) got chrome lined bores when sent to submarine service.

  2. On whether Type 96 25mm are light or medium AA? For your consideration, another interpretation could be the type of mounting, the triple mounts that have training and elevation via a wheel and gear system, esp with director control would be considered a medium AA. While the single gun on a pedestal with free swinging, would be a light AA. This is similar to the German MG34 & MG42. When on a bipod, they are light machine guns, while on the complicated tripod, they are heavy machine guns.
