A few decades later a bunch of unruly American "brothers" showed up and decided to build a bar, and named it "The Screaming Eagles". Itinery recommendation in north to south order on the east coast: 1) Boston & Falls Cove, USS Massachusetts, USS Constitution, some DD Drive 4 hours 2) NYC - USS Intrepid, Sailing ships at South Street Seaport. Drive 3.5 hours 3) Philiadelphia / Camden USS New Jersey, SS United States, USS Olympia, de-comm'ed reserved fleet. Drive 2 hours to Baltimore 4) USS Constellation, Fort McHenry Since 1 hour to DC 5) DC, Smithsonian air and space (both downtown and Dulles... if only anyone can get into Silverhill) Washington Naval Museum, Fort Foote, Fort Washington. Drive 1.2 hours to Quantico 6) Museum of USMC Drive 1.2 hours to 7) Jamestown/ Williamsburg Drive 1 hr to Newport News & Norfolk Another 3 or 4 hours to USS North Carolina. Realistically, can you bear more than that? Yes, I've driven NYC and south legs separately and it actually flows with almost zero detour.

  4.  @TonboIV  There is an EMALS land based test site at Lakehurst, NJ. The catapults are just one of several critical developmental systems that are not mature and did not get enough developmental or operationally representative testing. THE result is that the ship is not operational and you don't get ANY testing. We'll see in a few months how much the systems have improved.

  5.  @Randisides  oh... the best laid plans... and then the realities of military procurement and technical development shows its face. Several of the new systems WERE to be fielded on other ships first. You do know than the UK CVs do not have catapults or arresting gear and this limits what aircraft can be carried. The F-35Bs are the same as are currently on the USN's LHAs and they have shorter capabilites than the C's. The UK CV can not deploy with refuel tankers or airborne radar of notable endurance. The QE are good ships, and in airwing capability, they are somewhere between an LHA and a Kittyhawk Class
