The whole reason why white nationalists are on the rise is that we have forgotten how to defend liberal positions. No ideas are settled, we have to constantly debate the ideas of freedom, the ideas of rights for everyone, to reinforce liberal values. Eternal vigilance is required for liberal values to thrive, we have to constantly debate, constantly win against racists, constantly battle them in the realm of ideas. That is why freedom of speech is so important, we have to allow them to speak so we can defeat them with sound logic and reasoning over and over again. That is how you ensure bad ideas don't resurface, by defeating them not censoring them.
