  2. Remember the efficiencies they claim are under laboratory conditions, where they can optimise the light source, and control such things as temperature to maximise the output. It does not tell you what efficiency a panel will produce on your roof.

  4. @ Sarah Andrea Royce the UK is much the same latitude as Germany, and Solar is well established here, too. Commercial solar produces an average 9% of nameplate.

  5. @ Moto arzan. Yes, we all get 6 months of daylight per year, but not equal intensity. Intensity falls as the log of the atmospheric path length. (See optical depth.) That's attenuation by absorbtion: then there's reflection by dust and then there's refraction. We can safely watch the sunset.
