  1. Firstly, these are poor commanders - their troops were destroyed and they were captured. That's the kind of commanders Putin wants Zelensky to have. Secondly, I presume Putin got something for handing them over to Turkey, and Erdogan got something for handing them back to Zelensky. So they will both be happy to do it all again.
