@edthebumblingfool The Russians had no intention of going further west than Berlin - there's not point. They took eastern Europe as a buffer between themselves and Germany (and between themselves and Britain/France).

@JosephGibson Yes, I've noticed that fro a long time. I noticed they interred the Japanese Americans, but not the German Americans. And I noticed that The NS groups that were in every western country before WWII all seemed to vanish back into the woodwork.

Yes, the Germans gave up some 2/3rds of Europe. The only bits they held were where they were unchallenged (Atlantic wall, Jersey, Norway), or trapped (Courland pocket).
