  6. The purpose is to prevent Ukr joining Nato. If the war ended today, Ukr would join Nato tomorrow. If Ukr joins Nato, the US can put nuclear weapons right next to Russia's border - protected by all the armed forces of Nato. If the flight-time of the weapon is short enough, the US could launch a first-strike nuclear war against Russia, and Russia would not have time to retaliate. Russia cannot, and will not end this war while Ukraine continues to exist.

  9. Shells are much cheaper than missiles. If you let the tanks reach the front, you can destroy them more cheaply. If you destroy the bridges, Ukr, might be forced to keep thier tanks in the East, meaning they'd have a reserve of tanks - a situation that could come back to bite you.
