Well said.

I just watched a program on UK free tv, called "Nazi victory: the post-war plan". It didn't contain a single sentence about a post-war plan. The war itself was only mentioned in the last 90 seconds of the progam. The rest of the program was about Nazi pre-war policies and actions and considered if they were "good" things. For example, the 1936 Olympics was cast as an all-round "good thing." Essentially the program was a propaganda attempt to cast totalitarian authoritarianism in the best possible light.

Oil and gas prices are high; Europe is financing Putin's adventures.

(- dead - captured - missing)

A man contemplating his own execution can usually think of little else.

@rimacutem of Alsvartrsmiðr You're right that left and right lost their meaning, but I'm fighting against that. It's about laws and liberty. Under the Roman system of law, "that which is not prohibited is allowed". Every law made reduces personal liberty. As a Roman General observed, "where the laws are most numerous, there is the greatest tyranny. " Thus the political left and right were born by the making of law. The left seeks to take away personal liberty and the right seeks to preseve/restore it. Totalitarianism is when everything is prohibited. By redefining left and right as International totalitarians v national totalitarians, the very idea of personal liberty is being excluded from political discourse.

Why was Germany operating a radio station in Poland?
3
The Soviets had a hard enough time crossing the Volga when they held Stalingrad. If they lost it, that crossing would be impossible.
3
Nonsense.
3
No, you've got it backwards. History teaches that Socialism lays waste to everything. TIK has learned that lesson.
3
@Rob Palmer I was just watching an old movie -"Night Flight from Moscow" (1973) in which they mentioned the Soviets "restoring Democratic Socialism" in Czechoslovakia (1968) - with Russian tanks. https://youtu.be/s5c6K9klgEo?t=1659

1. It's a long, long way from Britain to Russia - a declaration of war would be symbolic only. 2. Britain is an ally of France, and France and Russia are long-time allies - There're political/diplomatic considerations. 3. Perhaps, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." National Socialism and International Socialism cannot be friends, so Russia was going to be fighting Germany sooner or later.

I think it's forbidden to show the naughty German symbol on YT.

Winners write the history? Haupt would disagree! Survivors write the history. As Churchill said "I know history shall remember me kindly as I intend to write it myself." Similarly the likes of Mannstein wrote histories to cover their crimes.
2
@mahadhosh6400 Goebbels is not the originator of that saying.
2
Madman Stalin?
2
Didn't you hear those Courland stats on how many Soviet tanks the Germans were destroying?
2
@Stugbit Fz Point is, if you think you're destroying 200 enemy tanks a month, at a cost of a dozen of your own, it would be really dumb to copy the enemy tank design.
2
@Stugbit Fz ... in hindsight.
2
He's already done it. The Japanese advance pushed 1 million refugees (mostly from Burma) into Bangladesh - a country that often had famines without an extra million mouths.
2
Yes, they really should - the Stalingrad series is a masterpiece.
2
Speaking as a Brit, I have great admiration for the Finns.
2
There are always more questions than answers - that's just the way it is.
2
Prolly on BitChute - but that place is a dumpster fire.
2
@Rambling Recruiter who said "any military planner should have known..." That's hindsight! WWII warfare was new - there wasn't the research to know such things, was there?
2
The details are lacking in the chaos of that time.
2
"The heroes were the inhabitants of the German cities" ... who had voted AH into power - unlike the inhabitants of Warsaw, Stalingrad, London, ...
2
He who never made a mistake, never made anything.
2
Prove it.
2
Still pushing that lie,I see. Tell me, what loyalty did Britain owe to the Czechs?
2
@PresleyPerswain Yes, I think you're right, and one of the beauties of the English language is it's flexibility of word order - we can split, with gay abandon, our infinitives.
2
@benholroyd5221 War is enormously expensive!
2
Fresh food (plants and animals) is about 70% water. You can save a whole lot of trucks and fuel by dehydrating as much as possible.
2
@Orc Lover who said "I think the definition of insanity is losing one's free will. " No, it isn't. Historically it was thought to be the inability to reason, but now it's seen more as the inability to discern facts from myths. What you've got there is a false fact. You do not have free will, you have the illusion of free will. You are constrained by morals, society, fear, ...
2
@Orc Lover No, you're wrong again. I have 3 decades of arguing with ideologues (religion, science, politics, etc) on the internet and have not once changed anyone's mind. I'm not in the slightest concerned with what you believe, but feel obliged to gainsay falsehoods lest they gain popularity. Lies lead to murder. People dispute the shape of the Earth - a simple matter of observable fact - and for all the decades of bitter argument, no-one changes their mind. People then are liars or fools. Are we all insane? No, of course not. Being sane has nothing to do with being correct about anything, but about being capable of being correct.
2
Attack and defence plans are part of determining military spending.
2
Ahh, subtitles - I never thought of that! :) Thanks.
2
No, he's not saying that. The Russians say lend-lease wasn't important. TIK pointed out it was more important than a second front.
2
Because free markets don't protect ships from torpedoes.
2
It's to show what WWII Soviet propaganda looks like. We westerners don't see much of it.
2
I disagree with your claim that Allied bombing of German cities was a war crime. As I see it, crime is defined by law, law is limited by jurisdiction and that is limited by sovereignty. Law is limited to nations. The Geneva Convention is an agreement between nations - a contract. If two signatories wage war against each other, the agreement holds only so long as both sides observe it. Once it is breached, it is null and void. If Germany did not sign the Convention, they cannot break it, and they cannot seek the protection of it, either.
2
@Ann Onymous Yeah, run away, troll.
2
Ha! That's easy for you to say!
2
Thank you,you noble Patreons, without whom I'd never have been able to see and learn so much. :)

There's a question if radio broadcasts from Gleiwitz could reach Berlin - that's 275 miles (440 km). (SW = Short Wave) German Wikipedia says Sender Gleiwitz was built in 1935 and was a MW/SW station (107m to 40m, 2.7MHz to 7MHz). https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Gleiwitz Just a month later, Lord Haw-Haw was being broadcast on SW from Hamburg, to Britain and to the US. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Haw-Haw The BBC was running the British Empire service on SW from 1932, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_World_Service And the Post Office was running a SW point-to-point radio-telephony/telegraphy network across the British Empire - which I know because it was still going when I did my apprenticeship at just such a SW radio station. I think it started in the 1930's. I could be wrong, of course, but I'd guess Sender Gleiwitz could be heard in Berlin.

Always march (ok, steam) to(wards) the sound of the guns. {Edit: thanks @Akm72 - YT won't let me reply to people]
2
@neiloflongbeck5705 You don't assign an artillery unit to aircraft repair. If an aircraft repair unit "performs well, it goes without saying it repaired lots of aircraft. If an artillery unit "performs well" it goes without saying that it performed artillery bombardment.
2
@aidanb.315 You're wrong.
2
Is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" demoralising* propaganda? *corrupting the morals
2
Oh, the Sun goes the other way, too! We northerners face South and see the Sun move left to right. In SA, they face north and see the Sun move right to left. That's got to mess with your head.
