The Brits took to gardening, and didn't have occupying troops stealing and destroying their crops. Brits also had POWs and Land Army girls working the farms. I'll bet evacuee children were also helping grow food.

@Orc Lover No, you're wrong again. I have 3 decades of arguing with ideologues (religion, science, politics, etc) on the internet and have not once changed anyone's mind. I'm not in the slightest concerned with what you believe, but feel obliged to gainsay falsehoods lest they gain popularity. Lies lead to murder. People dispute the shape of the Earth - a simple matter of observable fact - and for all the decades of bitter argument, no-one changes their mind. People then are liars or fools. Are we all insane? No, of course not. Being sane has nothing to do with being correct about anything, but about being capable of being correct.

@SirusKing Nations cannot be capitalist - a capitalist is "a worker who owns his own tools" (-TIK). Nations are not in business, they are collectives working cooperatively to create an environment in which people can thrive and prosper.

Yes, I was surprised about his concern for German children. I'd note that; 1) the Nazi regime rose to power by making threats against children (paraphrased - "it's easy to control the people, just tell them their children are in danger ...") 2) Fear of communism - they lost WWI because of hunger-driven revolution at home, and expected Soviet attacks since they were weakened. 3) Fear of a new popular revolt against their own regime. In light of those, Goebbels concern for German children was concern for his own neck.
