Allah has given me this video to help my friend, the starting quote is so true, feeling "sad" is normal, for me it goes within minutes, but depression is something else, and through reading the English Quran, learning even a bit about our beloved prophet Muhammad (SAW) I have found true inner peace, this is someone who was depressed for years.
One thing I would say, is read Surah Duha, Subhanallah, it blows me away the translation, when I feel sad I listen and read that surah, and it's like my hammer to breaking the sadness that comes into my mind, it's my protector, it is the divine word of Allah, it is from the Quran! ❤💪☝ Allahu Akbar

17:31 I think it's also people have really forgotten what real patience is.
People see patience as "waiting for something to happen" being reactive, whereas the patience of a believer is proactive, he/she does other things, remembers Allah not only through prayer but remembering the situations you have been through, and Allah was there to guide you, when things happened in life that was unbearable at the time, but then Allah protected you, as an interesting quote that I read which talked about our beloved prophet Muhammad (SAW) that his father died before he was born, mother past away at 6, uncle at 8, wife past away, war, hunger etc, the worst of hardships
And Allah loved him, and it concludes that Allah tests those who He loves, as Surah Al Imran mentions that those who believe will be tested (on that lines forgot the exact verses) and when 1 realizes that life is a test, and actualizes that thought, they feel better, I have.
I really do think that weak Iman is linked to depression, just because someone knows the whole Quran etc, doesn't make them immune, because many of these people don't read the translation, knowing a few myself and how they behave you "wouldn't think" they would act like that. But Islam isn't just about knowledge, it's practice and propagation which is what I try and emphasize and its the last 2 concepts in today's world which has vanished we have knowledge Alhamdulilllah, but we lack the practice and propagation of what we learn.
