@martynblackburn9632 Elderly in Sweden were encouraged to self-isolate if they chose to or deemed themselves to be vulnerable. Swedish society, by and large, carried on functioning as normal ie kids went to school, economy stayed open and far fewer people died. Why are you still trying to justify the unjustifiable?

The early 2020s. The years politicians actually started to believe they could legislate against people dying.

The first and by far the biggest spike in covid deaths wasn't because we'd failed to lockdown or because there was no vaccine (still isn't to this day) but because it was a novel virus seeking out the most vulnerable ie the elderly, infirm and those with known existing pre-conditions. Basically, for covid, it was a turkey shoot for the first few months and then it became subject to the law of diminishing returns as it ran out of a previously plentiful supply of vulnerable people to target.

@jjefferyworboys8138 The vulnerable groups were clearly identifiable and identified after the first wave. Children weren't dying and hardly was anyone under 75 unless they had those certain comorbidities. Unlike now when the UK excess death rate is 10% and includes much younger people than during covid. A pattern which is reflected across other European countries, but not Sweden.
