  1. On this occasion I think the BBC is correct given the huge complexities here. Calling them gunmen or militants is a statement of fact and the BBC should be striving to be impartial and just report the story here. People can and will make their own minds up anyway.

  2.  @supercriceto  There were plenty of Israeli 'terrorists' killing British military personnel in the late 40s, some of whom went on to become Israeli statesmen. Similarly Israel could be called an oppressive apartheid state and I've seen plenty of examples of the IDF terrorising and killing Palestinians over the years, but I don't expect the BBC to start calling them the terrorist IDF or referring to the Israeli state as 'the oppressive Israeli state'. Your SS example is just daft.
