James Lovelock might be long dead, but he did admit to being alarmist about climate change in the past, previously predicting billions of deaths and humanity only surviving by moving to the Arctic. “The problem is we don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago. That led to some alarmist books – mine included – because it looked clear-cut, but it hasn’t happened,” Lovelock said.

The hottest temperature ever officially recorded anywhere in the world was in Death Valley. It was 56.667 degrees celsius or 134 Fahrenheit way back in 1913. According to The Guardian on 20th July 2023 Death Valley is one of the, 'hottest places in the world' and it, 'reached at least 121F (49.4C)' this week. A 71 year old man just died there and apparently, “Heat may have been a factor in his death,” ...officials said in a press release. So, some way to go then in our ever warming world to match that 1913 record then. The 'Truth Illusory Effect' is alive and well it seems.

I urge people to go and look at those Vostok ice cores that chap is citing as irrefutable proof of rising CO2 levels and irrefutable proof of man-made global warming.

I think that most people understand that the planet is currently getting warmer, but the extent to which it is getting warmer isn't significant in the grand scheme of things and nor does this rise represent a significant danger to humanity. Nor does it, in fact, preclude the world getting colder in future either, which is a far more scary prospect. CO2 might well be a greenhouse gas and contribute to this warming in some small way, but again its impact is still highly debatable. If I were to posit a strong argument for seeking to find alternative, preferably more sustainable and even more environmentally less impactful sources of energy now then it would be that fossil fuels aren't infinite and that humanity is using them at an increasing rate of knots. This makes far more sense to me than the highly questionable grift that climate change scientists like the gentleman above looks like he's attempting to peddle.

@mickg7299 No, but I wish I did as it's clearly a lucrative business for some.

This bloke thinks he can alter the earth's climate like he's tweaking a recipe.
