  1. This is what happens when two sides drift to the extremes and are permitted to hold sway. The right wing extremists who assassinated Rabin in 1995 post Oslo Accords must be rubbing their bloody hands with glee today. Though no great lover of the Palestinians at least Rabin realised that it was in Israel's and its population's interests to find a lasting solution to the problem there amenable to both sides. Bibi, whom I believe succeeded him, was a populist of the worst kind and saw the febrile situation as ripe for exploitation for his own political ends. And thus here we are today in 2023 with the irredeemably corrupt ethno-nationalist Bibi STILL in charge and the Israel/Palestinian question more fraught and less close to a resolution than ever.
