  1. Yeah, inflation started to take off in the UK and in many other countries at the beginning of 2021 in the midst of covid. Check it out. Economies were shut down, demand started to rise as they began to reopen, supply was crippled and governments had paid millions of people to sit at home doing nothing increasing the M2 money supply. Inflation was inevitable and interest rate rises should have been happening then not 2 years later. Too much money chasing too few goods then followed by the Ukraine invasion which added to the inflation woes in terms of energy costs. Now blame Brexit if you want, but if you think it played a significant role, particularly over and above the insane responses to COVID, then I'm unlikely to convince you otherwise I'm sure.
