Ironic how the west insisted on free and fair democratic elections in Gaza and then once those elections produced Hamas as the winners the enclave was then subject to sweeping punitive sanctions by them and a continuing blockade by Israel. Terms like 'rules based order' and 'free and fair democratic elections' clearly only ever really mean the West chooses to interpret them as. They aren't fundamental principles as such merely foreign policy tools and often mighty blunt, brutal ones at that.
