Amen. It's all based on an entirely false premise.

America's 'bidniz' model is forever wars. Trump at least tried to put the breaks on that first time round and subsequently got branded a fascist dictator and a threat to world peace apropos of nothing. It's beyond cliché but we truly live in the Orwellian, 'War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength” alternate universe now and you're a labelled a fringe nutter if you even dare to question it.

Europe has behaved too long like a victim living with a coercive partner. A partner who constantly sows doubt and fear in our minds for their own ends.

Diesen makes the point that even if it were Ukraine and not the US, which I seriously doubt, then they wouldn't have undertaken NS2's destruction without US permission. In that sense then it is a moot point.

I'm not entirely convinced by the claim the American empire is 'losing money in Europe' - its 'private' MIC certainly isn't and nor are many of its 'invested' politicians - but even if it were, it has to be seen against the backdrop of the degree of hegemony it clearly wishes to maintain there as evidenced by its proxy war in Ukraine. Putin's Russia, remember, offered to join NATO at the beginning of the millennium and was swiftly rebuffed by the US. Doubtlessly on the basis that it would allow it to assume more influence over time in the region. If nothing else, it proved where America's priorities were and they certainly weren't about ensuring enduring peace, harmony and cooperation in Europe if it involved Russia.

The EU has long been part of the problem here too. Nothing wrong with economic and political cooperation, particularly with close neighbours, but it is increasingly an elitist, undemocratic, centralizing sovereignty snaffling political project seizing upon any and every crisis to justify its own existence and seize ever more powers for itself.

Ironically, what defines liberalism today is intolerance. Liberals essentially get to rigidly define what is ok and what isn't and woe betide anyone who crosses their lines.
