Yep. You'll notice how seamlessly ACC proponents segue from one to the other deliberately conflating the two. One is bleeding obvious, shameful and undeniable, the other is highly debatable and currently amounts to a highly profitable for some article of faith. Can you guess which one is which?

@amraceway Well, according to a relatively recent study by NASA the globe is actually getting greener. This is, in part, thanks to reforestation moves led by countries like India and China. That, as I said, in no way detracts from the very real local negative environmental impacts of deforestation itself.

@amraceway Mother Earth will be just fine. Glad to hear that you're one of the very rare exceptions I've encountered rather than the rule. Genuinely practising on a daily basis what you preach. I trust also that you don't have the safety net of a rich mummy and daddy somewhere in the background (or something similar) as that also seems to be a common thread.

@Trevorjesuischarlie I'm not a climate change denier, but having made the effort to seek out the arguments I'm a healthy climate change sceptic. To me, currently, it looks like yet another a grift and a taxpayer sponsored gravy train based on what looks to me like a matter of faith. A matter of faith that's highly profitable to some and ultimately highly dependent on suckling from the state teat as so many things are...many more than most people actually realize in fact. A quasi-religion not helped by what looks like to me like a load of comfortably off virtue signalling hypocrites who are not only intent on warning everyone (twas forever thus) that 'The End Is Nigh' lest they repent, but don't seem to be doing much in the way of serious repenting or hair shirting themselves. Mitigating habitat destruction, preventing over-exploitation of resources and pollution, promoting sustainability and good stewardship are absolute no-brainers in my book and in everyone's interests, even if a degree of state subsidy is required to it, but trying to hang it on the 'air hook' of an anthropogenic imminent climate change catastrophe is all too often self-serving cynical doom mongering in my opinion. If someone wants to talk about the modern consumer model being broken and in serious need of attention then, frankly, I'm all ears but climate change science, particularly when there are some extremely learned and accomplished dissenting climate scientists whose views are effectively censored on MSM, ain't gonna do it. Science ONLY works by having its hypotheses constantly open to debate and challenge and once words like 'consensus' and 'settled' are used, particularly regarding something so fundamental as this, without so much of a hint of a blush I start to worry.

ACC carbon induced catastrophism is an article of faith beloved of holier-than-thou virtue signallers, perennial doomsayers and those who seek to profit from it whereas environmental destruction and overexploitation very clearly is a reality. Talk about that by all means, but don't disingenuously conflate the two in order to serve your own agenda. Frankly, I'm sick of listening to self serving quasi-religious zealous 'for thee and not for me' eedjuts like you, most of whom talk about 'the science' when, by definition, there is no such thing and most whom very rarely actually practice what they preach anyway from my experience.

@snorttroll4379 If you could find something more intuitive that would be great. I used to use Quora a lot more than I do now which is better in this respect in my opinion but not perfect. Knowing which comment specifically someone is replying to certainly helps.

@Trevorjesuischarlie I'm not stopping anything. Would that I could. Unlike you I don't possess great wealth, but I do possess an ability to listen to and process facts. I'm forced to live in the real world and not rely on often huge public subsidies in various forms to sustain my business. Like it or not there's lots of 'for thee and not for me' posturing going on in the West not least from those in the most comfortable position to do so. A lot of these policies directly and ostensibly impact the poorer members of our societies whilst those who advocate them make conspicuous token changes to their lifestyles and believe it washes with the great unwashed masses. It doesn't. Further to that, one only has to see that the developing world is actually increasing its consumption of fossil fuels like coal in order to try and improve the lot of their citizens so all the preaching from the West is rightly regarded with more than a degree of suspicion. Apart from the undeniable polluting effects of fossil fuels the best justification I can see to seek alternatives is the fact that they are indeed finite and thus any alternative, ideally a 'clean', sustainable one, is desirable over time.
