I'm not dismissing him out of hand, but this chap definitely talks a good game. If he could bottle and sell his self-assuredness he'd be a zillionaire. He reminds me of another great Trigger guest, Jim Rickards. Fascinating to listen to, supremely intelligent, vastly knowledgeable and a great storyteller but, as ever, I still subscribe to the old adage that, ultimately, in the grand scheme of things, nobody really knows anything.

His predictions in relation to China and Germany seem more than a little pessimistic and far fetched. The West's position in relation to Ukraine, and really by that I mean the US's, has been heavily responsible for pushing Russia to where it is today and we look to be reaping the consequences of that. We modern, indulged 'western Europeans' are apt to see history as a morality play with us front and centre of it apparently leading the way, but meanwhile much of the rest of the world has been practicing realpolitik and laughing quietly up their sleeves at us.
