According to UCL revenues of large electricity generators operating directly in the British wholesale market have increased from nearly £15 billion in 2019 to roughly double in 2021 and will be over £50 billion in 2022. Has our government and central bank mismanaged economic and monetary policy? Yes. Have some companies, particularly energy companies, been profiteering? Yes, undoubtedly. For all those ideologues out there, these things aren't mutually exclusive.
