How on God's green Earth did Central Banks become the ultimate arbiters of what governments we choose in supposedly democratic states? This claim, repeated here by Nick and nodded along to by John, that they are also somehow the sentinels of sound money and good economic governance which apparently affords them this right to choose governments is surely given the lie by history to date? Someone's royally taking the p!ss here, right?

A significant amount of UKG, ergo public, 'debt' ie close to £1trillion is owned by the BoE. The BoE is, to all intents and purposes, owned by the Government, ergo the public, as it was nationalized in 1946 by Attlee. Two questions. 1)How can the UK government be in debt to itself and why can't that debt be written off? 2)If it can't, who actually owns the BoE if the UKG doesn't?

The irony of how some people were gnashing and wailing over Truss's removal effectively by 'the markets' are now many of the same people who will be hoping for the very same markets to temper Starmer's potential excesses. Also interesting to see how the same 'markets' are threatening a possible future Le Pen government. Just who are these 'markets' and, given how much power they clearly hold over elected governments be they good or bad, to whom are 'they' accountable?

If Starmer is a secret Socialist why on earth did he conspire to rid the Labour Party of Jeremy Corbyn on an entirely fabricated pretext of being an anti-Semite I wonder? Starmer's Labour landslide majority government was won on a massively reduced vote from both 2017 and 2019 for example. Further to that he became the MP for Holborn and St Pancras this time round with a vote of 18k compared to 36k in 2019. If Starmer is 'a secret Socialist' then stick a flower up me jacksy and call me Mabel.
