  1. Simple. Ever more desperate people scrambling for less and less affordable housing helps to make them hungrier (in both senses of the word) and helps to drive up the costs of the properties they're all forced to fight each other for. It's social and financial engineering at its worst and ugliest and unfortunately we have long had a constituency in the UK that's long become addicted to the ability to make money from money in their sleep.
