This country, from Thatcher to the present day, has had a succession of expedient, self-serving execrable leaders. We have in the UK been consistently betrayed by our political and financial classes mortgaging the country's future for their own miserable ends.

@OnlineEnglish-wl5rp Most of the Left wingers of the 70s understood this about unchecked unskilled immigration regardless of where it came from. A never ending supply of cheap labour suppresses and undermines wages. It's a no brainer.

It's all they know sadly.

As New Labour architect and erstwhile Epstein buddy 'Petie' Mandelson said he has no problem with people getting filthy rich. When Corbyn was Labour leader he also said proudly that he did his best to undermine him, the party's then elected leader, every single day.

Thatcher's alleged economic miracle and 'sound money' was basically created and subsidised by the selling the nation's assets off on the cheap and the North Sea Oil bonanza. It was a dodgy self-serving narrative dressed up as an ideology. As Anthony Barnett said of Thatcher's reign, 'Britain may have been saved by her but it will never recover from the experience.' Similarly, the neo-Thatcherite Blair and Brown years were no better and indeed more smoke and mirrors and more cynical can kicking.
