The major problem here, of course, is that whilst there are always lazy people willing to scrape by on handouts, far more significantly there are people at the top essentially making money from money, often rentiers, at the expense of others far more productive lower down the food chain. Either that or they're serial sucklers of the state teat who, without a hint of irony or a blush, constantly evangelise to everyone else about the sanctity of free market capitalism and the need for self-sufficiency.
