No one, particularly in the 'liberal democratic' apparently enlightened West, seems to EVER ask the question as to why the US and its Western allies are apparently so obsessed with securing 'yesterday's' fuel ie fossil fuels. The world, we are told, is literally teetering on the edge of a climate catastrophe because of the consumption of these fuels so why all the blood, sweat and treasure expended to secure exclusive access to them?
