Trump, at some point, is going to have to decide whether his loyalty is to his disenfranchised, average American voters or to his mega rich donors. That's when things will get interesting....

Great discussion, but a shame how Monbiot pointedly evaded the question as to Zionism's key role in Tony Blair's rise to power sidelining the trade unions.

In the UK, subject to a suitable paid for phone plan and assuming you can afford one, you have to pay to phone HMRC, the UK tax collection authority, in order to address any queries or issues....and that's if you can get through at all. Frankly, it's an utter disgrace.

Monbiot is a great guest, but this insistence on portraying Brexit as exclusively a right wing elitist neoliberal aim is plainly wrong if you drill down on the people who actually voted for it. Yes, you might argue that they were sheep misled in their millions by the ravenous neoliberal wolves as people like Monbiot might, but to say it shows no respect for people's abilities to make up their own minds based on their own lived experiences would be an understatement.

In Ireland domestic water consumers don't pay water bills....think about that.....

Thames Water, which is now billions in debt, was privatised in 1989 as part of the Conservative privatisation schedule to off-load 10 regional water and waste companies. Conducted under the bizarre promise of greater competition, lower bills, greater investment and improved quality and service. Today it's mostly turned to sh*t. Bills are rising inexorably, sewage pollutes our rivers daily and investment is non-existent, partly thanks to obscene shareholder dividends paid in the past. This vital public utility was sold of in its entirety with any debts wiped clean to sweeten the deal for 'private investors' for the princely sum of £7.6bn. Thames Waters' debt pile alone today is around £19bn. It was a shakedown, a robbery conducted in plain sight by the financial and political elites of this country. Shame on them.
