Talking of anti-intellectualism, I remember well how there were all these snide comments and memes during covid regarding people doing their 'own research' on the subject and ignoring 'the experts'. Point being was there was never any professional consensus over covid and its handling, but reading and then repeating ANY of those professionals who took issue with things essentially was verboten.

To me, this is a statement of the obvious. Identity politics is a classic divide and rule tactic designed principally to fragment the Left by the political and financial elites. By God, it SO obviously works like a charm and has done for decades and as various petulant comments on this thread testify to. America 'by political choice' doesn't have universal healthcare or anything anywhere close to it, for example, despite being the richest country in the history of humanity and a majority of its people wanting it. 'Fine figures' like Obama come along and performatively tinker around its edges and claim he's done his best in the circumstances but, effectively, nothing fundamentally has changed by design and nor will it. Keep the great unwashed forever squabbling with each other over discarded scraps around the foot of the top table then they won't come asking for anything approaching their fare share of the banquet.

That's not the point that's being made here. The point is is that it's a phenomenon that's been co-opted and weaponised by so-called elites in order to divide and neutralise the class threat. The overriding threat to their positions. No one is saying that racism isn't a thing and that it shouldn't be challenged, but ostensibly it is practiced and implemented in its most harmful form by the very 'elites' who advocate for 'wokism'. 'Oppression' is the result of wealth inequality and it is essentially colourblind.
